Holebrook Farm

First summer for us in southern France and the harvest is in full swing. With such good weather the combine harvesters are operating round the clock.

CH Tickbern Miss Chief retained her title of Best bitch at Crufts this year, looking her gorgeous self Mel strutted her stuff and impressed her judge ( Mrs Amanda Hearne) enough to be awarded bitch CC and reserve best of breed for the second year running. We are so proud of our girl, she was not quite in full coat, but her exuberance, movement and conformation was more than enough to carry her through. This was her 17th CC and a good start to 2015, having amassed 4 reserve CC`s and 4CC`s with best of breed through 2014.

This page is dedicated to a very special lady known affectionately as “Tumble”    28/9/2004   –   12/1/2015

Tumble was adored by her family Ali, Alex, Archie, Amelie, Angus and Ava, she was Archie`s first playmate and soulmate, repeating the same affection and loyalty to each new family member as they arrived. She was devoted to her family, giving of herself freely and without compromise. She took time out from her family duties to produce two beautiful litters, one from the first love of her life, Tickbern Craftsman aka; (Phillip) five boys, one girl, the second was from Sitzendorf Sirs Apprentice at Tickbern aka; (Danny) three boys one girl. All her offspring inherited her soft gentle nature and in turn became devoted members of their new families. The little girl from her first litter Tickbern Jacynth, joined Louise Oakeby at Iscabern and had a very successful show career. Tumble`s  father was CH Kernow My Way for Jaybiem aka; (Frank) and mother was Traoli Chukka Through the Hoops at Tickbern aka; (Chukka) two special dogs who have made a positive contribution to this wonderful breed.

Tumble is sadly missed by all who knew her, but the wonderful memories of her lifetime adventures will live on, the reflection of her cheeky smile in the glass doors will never fade, nor the soft brush of her paw on your leg that said “hi” got time for a hug, and when you look skywards on a clear night, there will be a star just a little brighter than the rest.

February 2015 and winter has set in, the south of France is no exception with snow and below “0” temperatures, mother nature always manages to sculpt and create something magical.

Hanna now sixteen weeks old and growing fast, she has settled quickly into her new French way of life, and enjoys the local markets, she has us in fits with her expressions as all the kind words  with cuddles are in french, but she takes it all in her stride and enjoys the attention.

The last few weeks have been quite eventful as Holebrook farm moves to Southern France. our new property lies near the village of La Courtete` nestled between the Pyrenees and the ancient city of Carcassonne. Here are views of the new house and the Pyrenees taken from the approach road.

Meet the new kid on the block Tassimo Mocha, call name Hanna. This little monster has taken over from River as the local terrorist, anything that moves is fair game, anything that’s planted is liberated, chickens and cats are to be intimidated and interrogated, horses ankles are for cutting teeth, the only thing safe (at the moment) is Clive the parrot!!! Hanna is hopefully to become part of our show team and breeding programme. 

Mocha and Jake`s T litter now six weeks old and growing fast, seems like only yesterday that they were in the whelping box!! this is a lovely time as they are into everything and the weather has been great , so they already know their way round the farm!!!

Mocha’s babies at four weeks now starting to look like fluff balls and becoming very active!! The weather is still kind so they can start outside activities which usually means terrorising the chickens. Our rooster is quite good at protecting his hens so it won’t last long!!!
